Examples are most effective when they turn an abstract rule into a situation that readers can inspect, compare, and apply. In educational and technical writing, a worked case should reveal the starting conditions, the decision process, and the result rather than merely repeat the definition. A test example with input values, expected output, and a stated pass condition makes software behavior measurable and exposes errors that a general description may conceal. The same structure benefits policy guides, where a short scenario can distinguish an ordinary exception from a case requiring formal review. Strong examples also acknowledge limits: one case illustrates a principle, but several contrasting cases show where that principle changes. Editors therefore select examples for clarity and coverage, replacing decorative anecdotes with details that support a real judgment or action.
